I mean piles and piles.
Little dirt piles coming in carpet.
Little dirt piles under carpet padding.
I took some pictures but i have not downloaded them yet.
However not all dirt piles indicate a serious problem.
In 100 square feet of garden soil earthworms may bring from 4 8 pounds of dirt to the soil surface each year.
One way to help determine whether the sawdust is caused by an active insect infestation is to sweep or vacuum it up.
Anyway under the padding there are a lot of little brown.
Drywood termite pellets termite droppings or termite frass whatever you call it you don t want to find it in or around your house.
I think they are from an insect but can t see any insects worms etc in the area.
I pulled up 1300 ft of carpet and padding over plywood last week and there was a tremendous amount of something like sand underneath the yellow foam padding.
Besides incorporating organic matter into your soil earthworms are good manufacturers of fertilizer.
I m in the process of tearing out some old nasty carpet from my house.
It was much worse in the traffic lanes.
The appearance of mysterious dirt piles in the yard confounds and frustrates even the most knowledgeable home gardener.
It seems this black pile is alive with these litttle bugs see photo that keep coming back.
Castings have a nutrient level and organic matter level higher than that of the surrounding soil.
Baseboards and windowsills can collect small amounts of dirt over the normal course of daily life.
Based on the carpet and style i m assuming is been there for at least 30 years if not longer.
Carpet beetles like to live out of sight and feed on the natural fibers in fabrics even living off carpet fibers that are 90 percent synthetic.
They tend to live inside fabric furniture or deep inside carpets so look for damage to area rugs around the edges and to carpets along base boards.
Some yard invaders simply turn and freshen the soil while others can cause extensive lawn damage.
I have never run into this before at least not this bad.
Clorox raid baking soda water.
The exact location of the dirt pile can also be an important clue as to the culprit.
How do you know.
If more appears in a few days it likely.
Dirt piles can range in size from barely noticeable to large and unsightly.
However if the dirt appears to be coming out from within the window frame or from behind the baseboard you re likely looking at something more.
I have tired everything.
