Line Across New Carpet

Carpet manufacturers are using technology to their advantage creating never before seen patterns and jaw dropping new features. This claim develops when the installer uses a spur roller on a dense cut pile carpet and the warm yarn is reset. We recently had some carpet installed and the carpet seems to have several lines developing across the pattern. Roll the carpet back out to the perimeter of the room.

Roll or pole crush marks develop as a result of weight of the carpet on top of itself during storage or from the weight of other carpet rolls during transport. Position a carpet stretcher across the center of the room resting the butt end of the stretcher against the opposite wall. Roll up the carpet with the backing facing outward. Machine shift marks appear in graphics or step over tufting as narrow lines repeating across the carpet at regular intervals.

Snap a chalk line across the back of the carpet at the notch you made. They can make carpet now that is 100 waterproof. High lines and low lines in carpet all kinds of lines appear in carpets. Some run lengthwise others widthwise.

You can see some as soon as the carpet is rolled out. A subsection lists various types of widthwise lines streaks and states. So hang on tight. Carpet seams showing lines that are very close together located on both sides of the seam and about the width of the seaming tape are usually from the teeth of a spur roller that was used by the installer.

The surface of the carpet may even have widthwise gaps in the pile this rare condition will not affect the performance of a carpet. Some don t show up for several days or weeks. The installer and manufacturer and an independent analyst have all insisted this is a normal defect in the carpet.
