Normally the motor is a direct drive to the steps so if the steps are actually moving then the motor will be running.

On many kwikee steps the motor is the same as the driver s door electric window motor on a 1996 ford taurus.

My contact at lippert components who makes the kwikee steps advised that for mid 90s step motors there is a replacement motor available only for those parts that show number 5973820.
